Tip for Starting Your Young Child in Class
Be early to class! Especially for the first class!
The number one cause of anxiety for brand new students is missing the get acquainted time before class starts. By arriving 10 minutes early, your child has a chance to see the other children in class and acclimate to the new people and environment. The teacher will come out and introduce herself and explain the entry procedure and what will happen in class. She will point out to the children where the parents will be and how they will get a sticker at the end of class for following directions. Then students will be guided into the dance room. If anyone needs extra reassurance at that time, the teacher will ask the parent(s) to come in the dance room as well. Sometimes, a young dancer may need the presence of a parent in the room for the first few minutes of the first class or two. Once they get the hang of things, children do just fine. But being a little early to that first class is critical!

Hurricane Ike Dance-A-Thon on Friday, October 3rd
Tired of
seeing all the destruction on TV? Help us DO something
about it!
It’s
simple. You don’t have to be an incredible dancer, you
don’t even have to know how to dance! It’s 3 hours of
boogie’n to awesome music. Don’t worry; you’ll get a 10
minute break each hour for refreshments and the
restroom. Think you can handle that? All you need to do
is ask for pledges for each hour that you dance. Tell
your friends; tell your neighbors! They can get pledges
and dance too. The more people dancing, the more fun it
will be! Sign up at the front desk if you would like to
help less fortunate people in our community.
Can’t make it Friday, but you still want to help? Paws
too tender to dance? Pledge someone or help us by
providing some refreshments for the dancers. Snacks and
drinks would be greatly appreciated.
We
have done 2 Dance-A-Thons in the past. One was for 9/11
and the other after Katrina. We were able to raise more
than $1000 and $1300 respectively! Our goal this time
is to raise at least $2000. With everyone’s help, we
can do it!
