Dress Code
Each type of dance has its own particular dress code. It is very important for the teacher to be able to see “the line” of the body. This insures that each student will learn correct body alignment; an important technique vital to turns, balancing, and the execution of most steps. Shirts, skirts, shorts, and leg warmers make it difficult for the teachers to see if the correct muscles are being used and therefore are not allowed in class.
During winter months, a form-fitting, wrap-around black ballet sweater or shrug is allowed for warmth. Please note, tights are considered underwear and eliminate the need for panties under leotards and tights. All required dancewear is available for purchase at the front desk. Please allow one week for orders not in stock.
Please do not wear dance shoes outside the dance room or to and from the car. Dance shoes will last longer if they are not worn outside and dancers won’t be tracking dirt inside the studio. Also, the concrete can scratch the metal on taps which will in turn damage the dance floor. Ballet shoes will become slick if they are worn outside. Please have your dancer wear street shoes to and from class and change into their dance shoes once they are in the lobby.
For the safety of all dancers, no jewelry should be worn in class.
